MY SKINCARE ROUTINE | How I improved my skin

A few months ago I received a few skincare products and I started using them in my skincare routine. I also read a few articles about skincare that's suitable for my skin and put together my new skincare routine. Scroll down for a video to see how I do it.

ABOUT MY SKIN

Before I start explaining my skincare routine I should first let you know a few things about my skin. This skincare might not work for you if you don't have my skin type.

My skin is combination of dry and oily- my T-zone is oily (especially my nose) but the rest of my face is dry. In the winter months I can experience flaky skin on some areas, mostly nose as well. In the summer my whole T-zone is really oily and my foundation doesn't stick on if it's really hot.

My skin was quite problematic - I'd get acne in my T-zone and huge under skin pimples on my chin. I didn't give too much attention to my skincare, I just took off my makeup and apply some cream if my skin was dry. Ever since I went on the pill my hormones settled down and breakouts weren't as severe anymore. Now that I started taking care of my skin on daily basis I can really see the improvement in my texture and less breakouts.

My main cause for breakouts was greasy food, stress and that time of the month of course. I even got acne on my cheek area where I would use the brush to blend in the bronzer and then i realized it was the brush and the infected bronzer that was causing that. After I disinfected the brush and the bronzer compact my acne stopped appearing there. Beauty blenders can also be the cause of acne if your don't clean them and change them often enough. Make sure to pay attention to everything you put on your face in order to stop breakouts and take action against acne.

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT SKINCARE FOR YOU

The easiest way is probably to go to the beautician or to the pharmacy to test your skin. You might also figure it out yourself if you get to know the types and their features or by wearing different makeup and figuring out what works for your skin and how it reacts to different products. I'm not a professional in skincare but I'll link some articles below so you can read them if you're interested.

MY SKINCARE ROUTINE

1. REMOVING MAKEUP

I start off by removing my makeup with makeup removing wipes because I find it the easiest. I make sure to remove every bit of mascara and eyeshadow to avoid *panda eyes* later.

You can also use micellar water on a cotton pad, cleansing milk or even some natural oils (coconut, jojoba, olive oil,...)

2. CLEANING THE SKIN

For this step I use the GlamGlow Thirstycleanse cleanser. I use one pump and apply it all over my face. At first it comes out as mud but when you add water it starts to foam up. Then I massage it into my face to clean my pores and any excess makeup left on my face. When I feel like it's foamed enough I rinse it off and dry my face with a towel. After cleaning tou

Here are some cheaper alternatives:

3. TONER

Toner is a very important part of the skincare for oily and dry skin. I gets rid of any excess oils in the top layer of your skin and it helps to lock it the moisture by preventing it from evaporating. I use the Afrodita Clean Phase Ultra Moisturizing Toner for dry and sensitive skin. I apply it onto a cotton pad and apply it all over my face.

There are many different toners for different skin types, just make sure to read the packaging and get the alcohol free version.

4. SERUM

Serums are made of very small molecules, so the skin absorbs them quickly and deeply. They're also the priciest of all the other skincare products because of their active ingredients but you only need a few drops so it will last you for months.
I use the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum which is crazy expensive and I was very lucky to receive this. It works wonders on my skin - I noticed less bumps under my skin and tighter skin.
I probably wouldn't buy such a pricy product on my own so when I run out of it I will look into The Ordinary skincare and hopefully find some alternatives there.

5. MOISTURIZER

The last and the most important step in the skincare for me. After applying toner and letting it sink into your skin you should immediately apply moisturizer to lock the moisture in your skin and hydrate it. I use the Clinique Moisture Surge gel creme at night and it works great for my dry skin, it feels like my skin drinks up the moisture and all the nourishing ingredients. Before applying make up I prefer to use the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer because it sinks into the skin much faster and works amazing as a base for makeup.
There are of course many more moisturizers for your skin - from drugstore to high end. Browse through the L'oreal or Nivea creme section at your drugstore and you'll find something for you for sure.

Some alternatives from the drugstore that I used before (works for my skin type):
