Vintage makeup inspiration

Hello lovelies, I decided to write this post since I haven't been posting much lately and I am really sorry. I've been so busy with school (still am but oh well, i need a break), but I will try my best to start blogging more often.

So, I'm going to write about some of my all time favorite vintage makeup looks in this post, but there will be more makeup inspiration posts in the future. All of the following photos are from my pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/Simonicalicia) so you're very welcome to check that out as well. So let's get into it.

-Vintage-

#1: Edie Sedgwick

Factory girl, best known for her collaboration with Andy Warhol. She was one of his muses and starred in some of the movies that made her famous. She moved to New York to pursue her modelling career and met Andy Warhol at dinner one day. His movies were shot in the studio The factory, that's where she got her nickname "factory girl" from. Unfortunately, she was an alcohol and drugs abuser so her career ended faster than it should. After being committed to the Cottage hospital in the summer of 1970 to treat her psychological illness and also to stop abusing alcohol and drugs. She died one year later, and the coroner ruled her death as undetermined/accident/suicide.
She was also known for her statement makeup: thick eyeliner, defined eyelid creases, and super dense upper and lower lashes. It's a real hit, even today. Most girls go for less dramatic version and only draw a thin line in their crease and apply fake eyelashes. Personally, I think this look is really glamorous and also really edgy, different.

#2:  Audrey Hepburn

Known as a film and fashion icon, Audrey was also a humanitarian. She started taking ballet classes when she was 16 and later moved to study at the Ballet Rambert but was too weak to continue due the after effect of wartime under nutrition. That's when she decided to focus on her acting career instead. She's most known for her leading role in the movie Roman holiday and also Sabrina, in which she wore the famous Givenchy dress.
Her skin looked fresh and clean, always flawless. Her eyebrows were quite thick, almost straight and her eyelashes always looked natural, even though they were fake. She also had winged eyeliner, smokey eyes, rosy cheeks and red lips.

#3: Marilyn Monroe

Norma Jeane or better known as Marilyn Monroe is still one of the biggest sex symbols even 53 years after her mysterious death. She began her career as a model and later on got into acting. Most known movies that she acted in are The seven year itch, How to marry a millionaire, Gentlemen prefer blondes etc. She also got a plastic surgery to fix her nose because she didn't like it. She was always flawless, on and off screen. Her makeup artist never revealed her secrets so no one knows exactly how her makeup was done. Her eyebrows had a minor arch and weren't as defined as Audrey's, she wore eyeliner and a fake upper lash shadow (a soft line drawn at the corners of her eyes), which gave the impression of longer and more voluminous eyelashes. Red lipstick was an iconic look for Marilyn, she wore a slightly darker shade of lip liner than the actual lipstick color so her lips looked fuller, And also, another important detail on her face- a beauty spot.

#4: Grace Kelly

The princess of Monaco and the Ultimate Hithcock blonde, Grace Kelly, was a famous Hollywood actress who later married Prince Rainier III and moved to Monaco. She became an actress even though her parents weren't really supportive. She's most known for her roles in Rear window, High society, The swan etc. After marrying Prince Rainier III. she wasn't allowed to act so she became a philanthropist (someone who donates their money, time or reputation to charitable causes).  Hermes also named a bag, "the Kelly" after her. The citizens of Monaco still keep her memory alive and are really proud of her achievements. She was always elegant with her hair pinned up and dressed as a real Hollywood movie star. She wore sheer, berry colored lipstick, black eyeliner, some rosy blush and long eyelashes.

#5: Brigitte Bardot

BB as she was often referred as, is a former actress, singer and a model born in France. Unfortunately, the only icon in this post that is still alive (she is now 80 years old) and is probably one of my favorite old Hollywood actresses of all times. Her french accent, curly blonde voluminous hair, a killer posture and amazing face are just a few of her best qualities. When she ended her acting career, she became an animal rights activist. Most popular movies, that she acted in are Don Juan, Une parisienne, And god created women, etc. Her makeup is one of my favorites, dark smokey eyes, bold eyeliner and nude lips are a must when recreating her look.

So, this is all for this post.  The next post (if everything goes as planned)will be my first outfit post so stay tuned because it will be coming soon.
